ORIGINS OF THE STUD
Las Veras ArabiaStud was founded by Cristobal Colón Aguilera, Duke of Veragua, in the 20’s of the last century. He bought the five best mares of Europe at the time, which were the daughters of the stallion Skorownek, another important mares of the Crabbet stud which belong to Domecq’s Marfnis and the famous stallion Sirio III and Razada.
After his death, Piedad Colón de Carvajal, continued raising the stud at her country house, Valjuanete, with a lot of descendents in Spain and the rest of the world. Many of her horses were exported to other countries such as USA, France, Italy, Germany, Phillipines and Brazil. She also raised sport horses that began Spanish Jumping champions for many years with Lobato.
Nowadays, my husband and I are the third generation who carry on with the family tradition of raising horses. As careful as we can, we try to choose the best stallions to breed our mares. For the arabianhorses, we are using Abha Midas by Marwan el Shaqab and Perlamor (El perfecto) and for the sport ones, Contisco C by Contender.
